Why the dealer quote feels so high
Dealer key prices are already steep on many models. The second hit is the tow from wherever the car died, plus the time you do not have the vehicle. A mobile origination removes the tow. It does not remove the cost of a chipped key, and anyone who quotes a plain-metal-key price for a push-to-start fob is about to change the number in your driveway. Should I call a tow truck first?
Call a locksmith first if the car is legally parked and safe. A tow to a Birmingham dealer is often the most expensive part of a lost-key day, and many keys can be made in Walker County without it.
What is the difference between a spare and all keys lost?
